Roland started his first business at 20 years old, transporting Pembrokeshire vegetables to wholesale markets throughout South Wales. He grew this into a 10 vehicle fleet of refrigerated trucks, transporting fresh and frozen produce all over Europe.
In 2001 Roland started Coolload – The European Freight Exchange for refrigerated transport, this is an innovative freight matching website for refrigerated hauliers.
In 2006, having sold the transport business, Roland started Genpower with own brand Evopower generators, selling online throughout the UK. As a family run business, with wife Lisa and daughter Annie, Genpower has grown to a multi-award winning Power Equipment distributor, employing 50 people, with exclusive rights to the Hyundai brand in the UK and Ireland.
Outside of work, Roland competes in forest stage rallying in the Genpower rally car.
Having raised four girls, whilst assisting her husband with the management of his haulage business, Lisa joined Genpower as a director when it was founded in 2006. Lisa works full time overseeing the administration team and works across the business to ensure teamwork remains at it’s core. In her spare time Lisa enjoys supporting local causes, looking after the family vegetable patch and spending time with her daughters.
